Changes to Password Requirements
To enhance the security of our digital banking system, we are making changes to password requirements and the methods used to deliver Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) codes. These changes will go into effect on April 9, 2025.
Password Length
The current minimum password length is six (6) characters. Beginning April 9, this minimum will increase to eight (8) characters. Longer passwords are significantly more difficult for cybercriminals to hack, thereby helping reduce the risk of security breaches.
Multi-Factor Authentication Codes
MFA codes are an additional layer of security beyond your password to help protect your online access. Today, MFA codes can be delivered to you via email, voice call, or text message.
Unfortunately, email compromise has become more common and is often a first step to gaining fraudulent access to sensitive information. Effective April 9, we will remove email as an MFA delivery option.
Act Now
You can take steps today to prepare for these changes that go live on Wednesday, April 9.
- Review your current password and ensure it is at least eight (8) characters long.
- Make sure the phone numbers in your online profile are accurate.
- Begin using the voice call or text options to deliver your MFA one-time security code.
