Online Security
Our entire relationship with you is based on privacy and security. Those two elements are foundational to everything we do, and we take them very seriously.
Regardless of whether you interact with us by coming to the bank or managing everything online, the privacy and security of your information is paramount.
At First Bank of Owasso, we are committed to the security and privacy of your information whenever you access your accounts online. We have taken steps necessary to help protect your information, but you also play a major role in keeping your information secure.
What We Do To Help Protect You
TLS and Encryption
We use a security protocol called Transport Layer Security (TLS) to protect the exchange of data between your computer or mobile device and our servers. TLS supports data encryption and server authentication to ensure message integrity during a secure connection. Our online & mobile banking systems support 128-bit data encryption. Most modern web browsers are compatible, but it is important to verify your browser's support of 128-bit encryption before using online & mobile banking.
With message encryption, your private information is scrambled so that it cannot be intercepted and read by anyone else. When you visit a site that requires encryption, your browser will display a key or a lock. If you are not in a secure area, the key or lock will be broken. In addition to the icon, the URL of a secure site will begin with https, rather than just http.
Other Security Features
The facilities and equipment we use in providing online services are protected through multiple layers of physical and logical access control systems, and these and other control devices are audited on a frequent basis by qualified, independent 3rd parties to ensure your information is properly protected.
The Online Banking system has a digital server certificate from VeriSign that your browser uses each time you login, verifying that you connected to the Online Banking system provided by First Bank of Owasso.
We will never ask you to submit confidential information through regular email. If you ever receive an email message appearing to be from First Bank of Owasso that asks for personal information such as your Account Number or Social Security Number, do not respond to the email.
How To Protect Yourself
While we do everything we can to protect your information, you play a major role in keeping your information secure. Listed below are some of the most critically important steps you need to take.
- Never reveal your login credentials to anyone. Your login credentials will help keep your information secure, but only if they are known by you alone. If you believe your login credentials may be known by another individual, contact us immediately.
- Never leave your computer unattended while you are logged-in to Online Banking. Logoff from Online Banking before you visit other sites on the internet.
- Clear your browser cache, or turn off your browser and restart it to remove web pages that have been stored on your hard drive. Information related to clearing your browser’s cache can typically be found within the Help guide provided with your browser.
- Use automated features built into your operating system (OS) to auto-apply critical patches as they become available. Many of these patches “plug” known vulnerabilities in your OS and are necessary to keep your computer as safe as possible.
- Update all of your software on a regular basis.
- When you are away from your home computer, login only from a computer you trust.
